Japan Smart Chain Welcomes GMO-Z.com Trust Company as a new Vision Partner

AltX Research K.K. is pleased to announce that GMO-Z.com Trust Company, Inc. (GMO Trust), a U.S.-based subsidiary of the GMO Internet Group, has joined as a Vision Partner^*1  for “Japan Smart Chain (JSC),” a Japan-sovereign Layer 1 blockchain developed by AltX Research. Under this partnership, the two companies will jointly explore a model for the issuance and circulation of stablecoins for the Japanese market on JSC, in full compliance with Japanese laws and regulations.

The Japanese yen is one of the world’s key currencies, known for its liquidity and credibility. It is expected to play an increasingly important role in the digital asset ecosystem. Since its establishment in 2020, GMO Trust has been issuing and operating yen- and dollar-denominated stablecoins under U.S. regulatory frameworks. Drawing on this experience, GMO Trust is now exploring yen-based stablecoin issuance aligned with Japan’s regulatory environment. In this process, GMO Trust recognized JSC, which embeds blacklist enforcement and transaction prioritization, offering a trusted infrastructure for regulated digital-asset services without compromising usability—leading to the signing of this Vision Partnership agreement.

Going forward, the two companies will work closely together to develop a framework for compliant stablecoin circulation in Japan, leveraging Mizuhiki Suite—modular tools for on-chain identity, compliance, and risk management built on JSC. Through continued technical discussions and dialogue, AltX Research and GMO Trust aim to materialize a practical, trustworthy, and transparent model that contributes to the sound development of Japan’s digital asset market.
